Hello Wonderful ladies,
Wedding season is in full swing and you must have already have attended few weddings of your cousins or friends. So, What is that one trend which you saw across all the weddings? Lemme guess!! Long border Kanchi Sarees? Yeah!! I am coming to that.
How did Long Border even swept us off our feet? There is a little flash back I can relate to this, my mom’s wedding saree which was apparently the Navy blue and Pink bordered royal 14 inch long border saree and I once sheepishly tried on myself when I was in kindergarten, and my entire family burst into laughter as the border itself covered me in full. Any similar incidents for anyone? I am sure few of you are nostalgic over some similar situations.
After almost 2 decades I bumped into watching the Singhania’s long border collection in a fashion week and that was when the saga of the long border sarees was introduced to me again. Though, I was a little sceptic on how the trend was going to turn out, its immensely pleasing to watch the traditional designs come back to limelight with such craze. If you look at the star celebrity weddings of 2016, all the brides are beautifully dolled up in long border kanchi sarees. What makes them so special? I asked the same to Neelima Uttarala who manages Kumari sarees and she shared some interesting facts with us.
These long border sarees have some subtle yet unique features which makes them stand out. Firstly, the regal border which is no less than 10 inches, and it can range anywhere between 12-18 inches. Next, comes the motifs which are truly captivating with anna pakshi, peacocks and swans beautifully weaved into the borders and which instantly reminds you of the temple carvings. If you ask us what’s the difference between the modern Kanchivaram and the long border kanchivarams, it is these traditional motifs which we truly miss in the modern day kanchivarams.
I am sure you are ready to grab at least one long border saree now, but how to get an authentic one ? Here is your guide. Ideally a pure authentic long border Kanchi saree would have at least 3 grams of gold weaved into it while the entire gold zari contains 75% silver. To check the authenticity please do check for a silk mark tag which comes with the saree marked by the Indian Silk Borad to certify that the silk is pure. Everyone sells Long border sarees, but make sure you own a authentic one amidst all the commercial cheating.
And if you are not sure, where to get them from? Why worry when you have Kumari Collections. In fact, all the pictures used in here are with the courtesy of Kumari Collections and they are just amazing Isn’t it?So look no further and place your order on 8686090905.
