Jayaram Jayalalithaa, the lady who is seldom addressed by her name and often referred to as ‘Amma’ took her last breath yesterday. The Hon’ble Chief minister of Tamil Nadu was often addressed as Puratchi Thalaivi, Iron Lady and so on. Her life is a rule book and an Inspiration to many women who struggling all the way up in the ladder in the male dominant society.

Jayalalithaa was born on Feb 24, 1948, at Melukote, in Pandavapura taluka of then Mysore to Jayaram and Vedavallli  in a Tamil Iyengar Family. She stated in an Interview that life gave her a chance to be in two high-profile careers, one cinema and the other Politics and we have to agree that she proved to be a supremo in both.

1. Jayalalithaa learnt Bharatanatyam when she was just 3. She also has proficiency in Mohini Attam, Manipuri and Kathak.She also use to choreograph various classical dance Dramas. She had prepared a very ambitious dance drama named Kaveri Thantha Kalaichchelvi, which was so popular that she had invitations to perform it from all over the world.

2. In Bangalore Jayalalithaa attended Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School and later completed her childhood education at Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Chennai. 3. It is said that, she is the record holder for having been the Tamil actress with maximum number of 80 silver jubilee Tamil films hits in her career. Jayalalitha also has 28 silver jubilee hits films in Telugu. Her one film in Hindi ‘Izzat’,  with actor Dharmendra, was  a hit, too.

4. The AIADMK chief is a voracious reader and has a large private library with a huge collection of books. Her favorite authors are Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw. Also Sidney Sheldon, Danielle Steel, Pearl S Buck and James Hadley Chase. Even as an actress, she would always carry books with her to the studio, and would sit quietly by herself in a corner and read between shots.
5. Not only she governs, she is a good writer in Tamil – authored atleast one novel. Was a regular writer in the yesteryear Tamil weekly by name “Thai”.

6. While we all stumble to have a good grip on at least three languages, Jayalalithaa is proficient in English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam a total of 6 languages.

7. Jayalalithaa’s maiden speech in the Parliament in 1984 a big spectacle, so much that Indira Gandhi came to Rajya Sabha to hear her speech.

8. Before she became Puratchi Thalaivi ,Amma (revolutionary leader),Dr J Jayalalithaa was known as Kavarchi Kanni, a title she earned for her glamorous on-screen roles.
9. In 1992, Jayalalithaa’s government introduced the “Cradle Baby Scheme”. As the ratio of male to female in some parts of Tamil Nadu fell due to practice of female infanticide and aborting the female fetuses. Her government established centers in such areas which were meant to receive and place into adoption the female babies. This scheme was extended in 2011.

1 0.Jayalalitha financially helped a young gardener to pursue his studies, he scored very well in 10th standard, but quit on money issues. He completed his studies in a reputed Engineering college in Madurai with specification in Computer Science.

Today, he is  working for Amazon (One of the world’s best company with revenue US $ 24.509 billion (2009)).
